The In Giving We Receive -Curley's 50th Anniversary Building Campaign has already realized broad support, and the school is pleased to announce that Gerry and Connie Holthaus have generously pledged a significant leadership gift of $1 million, the largest single contribution in the history of Archbishop Curley High School.
The In Giving We Receive - Curley-s 50th Anniversary Building Campaign is designed to meet the needs of current and future students in the key areas of infrastructure, arts, and athletics.
"We are grateful to Gerry and Connie Holthaus for their significant gift to Archbishop Curley High School," remarked school President Fr. Michael Martin, OFM Conv. "They have demonstrated tremendous generosity by investing in the future of our school in this way. Their gift will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of our young men."
The main feature of the campaign will be the construction of a new Center for the Arts housing the instrumental and choral music programs and the enhancement of athletic facilities, including installation of field turf in the stadium bowl. The new campaign, the second in the school's history, builds upon the work of that earlier effort, which raised $3 million for the school?s endowment. Previous fundraising records have already been surpassed, as more than $4.2 million has already been pledged to this capital campaign.
"We are pleased with the initial success we have witnessed and are thankful to those who have provided these early leadership gifts," remarks Vice President for Advancement Barry Stitz. "These gifts and those received in the future will have a lasting and permanent impact on our school community."
In addition to committing a leadership gift to the school, Gerry Holthaus has also agreed to serve as the Capital Campaign Chair. A 1967 graduate of Archbishop Curley, Holthaus is the Chairman and CEO of Algeco Scotsman, an international modular space provider and parent company to Williams Scotsman, Inc. headquartered in White Marsh. "I am pleased to be involved in a campaign of this magnitude benefiting the students of Archbishop Curley High School," Holthaus stated. "I share the School Board's clear vision for the school and am honored to support Curley's mission to provide a quality Catholic education in the Franciscan tradition. It is a privilege to play a role in extending the Curley legacy that I experienced myself to future generations of young men."
