David Stauffer was raised in York, Pa. and began his first musical training on the clarinet at the age of 8. Raised in a family that believed in music as an essential element in being educated, he was exposed to many and varied musical genres. His high school training on clarinet and later saxophone and voice led him to earn a B.S. in Music education from Towson University.
Stauffer began his career as Instrumental Music Director at Archbishop Curley in January of the 1980-81 school year. Now, beginning his 30th year at Curley, he has been an integral part of the development of the music program. The music program now features 9 performing ensembles (five instrumental ensembles and four vocal ensembles) all evolving from a 19 member band and two guitar classes of the early eighties.
Mr. Stauffer has had the great honor of teaching some of the State’s finest musicians and conducting ensembles that have earned countless awards during his tenure at Curley.
