Prior to joining Curley in September 1975, Mr. DeMarco taught at Holabird Junior High School. Mr. Don Lewis, the Science Department Chairman at the time invited him to apply here at Curley. Forty years later he is glad to say that he still here. "From this long time perspective Curley has always been a friendly comfortable school for students, faculty, staff, families. It is easy to fit in and enjoy the atmosphere while learning. Over the years a lot of great people including both students and faculty have been here. It is especially nice to see so many former students who have come back and joined the staff. As a senior faculty member it is encouraging to see the quality of many younger faculty members."
When he is not teaching Mr. DeMarco enjoys taking courses/workshops/attending conferences for personal enrichment. Personal fun includes reading, mostly science fiction and action books, a good game of chess (and other games), collecting and photographing dragonflies, and working a large vegetable garden. The garden typically contains several varieties of lettuce, spinach, broccoli, string beans, peppers, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions.
