Impressive Start for Curley Soccer

The Varsity Friars began their MIAA season yesterday at home with a 2-0 victory against #2-ranked Mt. St. Joseph. In heavy rain conditions, the new turf field held up well.  Sophomore Bryce Woodward headed in a ball from defender Nick Richardson for the first goal with eleven minutes left to play in the first half. Mt. St. Joe came out strong in the second half as the rains continued. Curley junior Thunlwyn Garcia made a strong run down the left side and lifted a pass to senior Ben Stitz who scored from 14 yards out. Curley is 1-0 in the MIAA and 3-0 overall.
The Friars take on St. Paul's Friday at 4 PM at home.

The JV Friars defeated Mt. St. Joseph 5-1 on Wednesday on the road. Nick Lawry led the scoring with a hat-trick, and Jalen Anderson and Brandon Holy each contributed with a goal. Next up the JV is back on the road this Friday against St. Paul's at 4:00.

The Fresh-Soph Friars defeated St. Paul's 5-2 in action Tuesday for their second win. Last week they beat the Gaels of Mt. St. Joe in a tight game 2-1. The FS team goes on the road against Spalding on Thursday. (Photo above is from the FS game.)
