Spring Athletic Awards Reception

A consequence of the last ten days of inclement weather was the postponement of the championship baseball game to Monday evening.  That meant the Spring Awards Reception, scheduled for Monday, had to be moved to Thursday.  So it was on May 24th that Curley’s spring athletes and their parents gathered in the Suehle Auditorium to recognize their accomplishments. Mr. Matt Hatton, Athletic Director, emceed the event and spoke to the athletes and parents, thanking them for their efforts of time and talent and encouraging them for the future.  The coach of each spring team spoke briefly and presented letters and pins to the athletes. Each varsity coach presented two special awards to members of his team.  Mrs. Mary Frank Beasley, widow of the legendary baseball coach Al Frank, presented the inaugural Al Frank Memorial Leadership Award (see photo above.) Special plaques were presented to the members of the 2018 Championship Baseball Team. Mr. Billy Benton '05, Equipment Manager, was recognized for his meticulous care of the uniforms and equipment.
