Coaching Staff

Sean Murphy, Varsity Head Coach
   Coach Murphy completed his 18th year as the Head Football Coach at Archbishop Curley High School. During his 18 years at the helm, Coach Murphy has an overall record of 116 wins and 75 losses, 5 MIAA "B" Conference Titles’ most recently in 2014 with an undefeated season.   Murphy's 116 wins are a school record and places him among the top 20 active coaches for career wins in the state of Maryland.  In addition, Coach Murphy has been recognized by the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 and 2014 as a Coach of the Week recipient.  He was named the Varsity Sports Network 2014 Coach of the Year and the Baltimore Touchdown Club 2014 MIAA Coach of the Year.  Coach Murphy’s teams have been ranked 9 times in the top15 of the Baltimore Sun Paper Final Poll Rankings and in 2014 finished ranked #13 in final Maryland State Poll, the school's highest final ranking. Coach Murphy also served as the head coach for the Baltimore Team in the 2000 Baltimore Touchdown Club All Star game. In 2013, he was named head coach for the Baltimore Metro Team in last year’s Crab Bowl Game (Maryland State All Star Game). In 2014, Murphy was selected by his peers to be the head football coach for Team Maryland in the prestigious Big 33 Game vs. Pennsylvania.

   Prior to coming to Curley, Murphy was an Assistant Coach at Calvert Hall College HS and then spent 8 years on the collegiate level, coaching a variety of positions at McDaniel College and Towson University. Coach Murphy played his college football at Towson University where he was an All American wide receiver. In 1998 he was inducted into the Towson University Hall of Fame. Coach Murphy has been married to his wife, Lynne for 26 years and has two children, Kathleen 21 and Meghan 19.
