On Tuesday, April 17th, the Curley community celebrated Cornerstone Day. It was 56 years ago, on April 17, 1962, at 2:30 PM that the cornerstone was laid and the school was blessed by Archbishop Lawrence Shehan. This day is an opportunity to tell that part of our story and to honor significant individuals and groups in the Curley Family who have promoted the mission of the school.
This year's honorees are:
Mr. & Mrs. Don Potter, Scholarship Donors;
Mr. & Mrs. Rocky '70 White, Dedicated Volunteers;
Mr. Jere Danaher '66, Unsung Alumnus;
Mr. Joseph DellaMonica, Long Serving Staff;
and the Franciscan Friars, represented in the above photo by Fr. James, Minister Provincial.
Several Friars came for the event and concelebrated.
Left to right: Fr. Romuald, Fr. Vincent, Fr. Michael, Br. Emmanuel,
Fr. Robert, Fr. James, Fr. Matt, Br. Lawrence, Fr. Herman, Br. Dan, Fr. Donald.
The Franciscan Friars have been at Curley since the beginning in 1961. Fr. James, Minister Provincial of Our Lady of the Angels Province, received the first Cornerstone Award in the name of all the Friars who taught and teach here.
The Mass was livestreamed to a page on the Curley website under the ABOUT tab. This was the first time an event at Curley was live-streamed. We had over a 100 views.
