Friars Retain Reif Cup

On Friday, September 28th, the varsity soccer played at Calvert Hall in the annual Reif Cup game. This is an annual contest that rotates between the schools for possession of the Reif Cup for the year.  The cup is named to honor Bernie Reif who has connections to both schools.

The Friars came out with energy and pressure and senior captain Anthony Dragisics headed in a pass from Thunlwyn Garcia early in the half. Less than four minutes later,  junior Kenny Clapp found the back of the net off a pass from junior Dylan Sloan. The Friars took a 2-0 lead into halftime.  Calvert Hall's Ben Bender scored with 28 minutes left in the second half to put the Cardinals back in the game. The Friars answered quickly with a shot from Alex Herrero which hit the post and bounced off a defender into the goal.  Herrero got his own goal a short time later. Junior Bryce Woodward ended the scoring off a pass from Clapp. Curley keeper, freshman Michael Caulkins, had two saves.

Friar fans were excited and the "splash zone" saw a lot of action as the Curley team improved to 4-4 in the MIAA A Conference (4-5 overall.)
