Ireton Named New Football Coach

March 6, 2018- Brendon Ireton has been named the head varsity football coach at Archbishop Curley High School.  Ireton had previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Friars under longtime coach Sean Murphy from 2008-2012.  “We are looking forward to having Coach Ireton lead our football program,” said Matt Hatton, Curley’s athletic director.  “He is an experienced head football coach with outstanding communication and motivational skills.  Most importantly, we believe he will serve as an excellent mentor to our young men.”

Ireton returns to Curley from Kent County High School where he coached the Trojans for the past six seasons.  His teams qualified for the state playoffs on four occasions and were 1A East Regional Champions in 2016.  In 2013 he was honored as the Bayside Conference Coach of the Year.  Ireton’s resume also includes being on the coaching staff for Team Maryland in the Big “33” game and the Maryland Crab Bowl All-Star game.

As a player, Ireton was a four-year starter at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  He earned his BS degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from King’s and later earned a Masters of Special Education from Grand Canyon University.
