Assignments for 2009-2010
Grade 9 - Semester I: Poster
• Must be on poster board
• Should include: your name, name of service site, a 1 paragraph typed description of your service
• Should include: pictures or drawings of what you did, cut-out images from magazines or newspapers which help to explain what you did.
• May be required to present your poster to the class
• S-Forms Due: Sept. 22

Grade 9 - Semester II: 1.5 page typed paper
• No title page; only a header on the page you hand in which includes: name, date, location of your service
• 1" margins, Times New Roman, 12pt. font, 2x spaced
• ¾ Page: Describe your service/what you did
• ¾ Page: Describe how this service relates to the call that all Christians have to serve those in need. Describe the impact the service has had on your faith.

Grade 10 - Semester I: 2 page typed paper
• No title page; only a header on the page you hand in which includes: name, date, location of your service, and Book, Chapter and Verse of Bible Passage
• 1" margins, Times New Roman, 12pt. font, 2x spaced
• Explain what you did for your service
• Explain which Bible passage you chose which demonstrates Jesus Christ as servant.
• Relate your service to the example set by Jesus Christ in the passage you chose (i.e. my service is similar to that of Jesus because...)

Grade 10 - Semester II: Artistic expression
• Your expression might be: a website, powerpoint, poster, sculpture, painting
• What you hand in should demonstrate a high quality of work and be able to be displayed
• You should plan on spending 3-4 hours on your project
• You will have to present your project to class
• Mr. Halcott is our art teacher and is a good resource for ideas

Grade 11 - Semester 1: Class presentation
• Powerpoint presentation only (If your classroom does not have a projector set up, it is up to the discretion of the teacher if you can present in a format outside of Powerpoint)
• Should include 6 -10 slides
• Slides should cover: what you did for service, information about the site, and how your service relates to at least 3 of the Franciscan Ideals

Grade 11 - Semester 2: Research Paper
• As you have studied social justice this semester, your paper will relate your service to the broader cause of justice in the world
• Length: 3-4 pages
• 1" margins, Times New Roman, 12pt. font, 2x spaced
• Should include:
A description of your service
A summary of 1 Catholic Social Teaching document, with 5 key points http://www.osjspm.org/
An explanation of how your service relates to the central themes from the Catholic Social Teaching document that you have chosen
• In your paper, you should provide the title, author and year of publication of the Catholic Social Teaching document of your choice
• You must read the entire Catholic Social Teaching document as a prerequisite for doing this paper; you should print it out as well but not hand the printout in

Grade 12 - Senior Portfolio
• Reflection on service as it demonstrates how we are all One Body in Christ
• Title page which includes: title for paper, name, due date, location of your service, class section number

• 3.5 pages minimum
