<< BackFriars Overpower Crusaders
The rain poured down on Saturday October 17th, as the Friars took the field to play the Crusaders from St. Paul's for their homecoming game. The unfavorable weather conditions did not seem to bother the Friars; they controlled the game on both the offensive and defensive ends. Curley fans did not seem to mind the rain either, as they filled the already crowded bleachers to support their team. Curley dominated both halves, with a final score of 6-0. Goals were scored by #21 P.J. Koscher, #17 Callum Krach, #15 Mikias Teketele, #20 Reid Hawkins, #13 Jon Cook, and #16 Ricky Greensfelder. Team Manager Nick Pniewski stated after the game “I feel that we played a good, strong, team based game that contributed greatly to our victory.”
At the beginning of the game, Coach Stitz recognized the seniors on the soccer team for their leadership and determined play. The seniors gave corsages to parents under umbrellas, but the rain did not dampen their smiles or their pride. The soccer class of 2010 includes goalie Taylor Bechtel, Aaron Beale, Mikias Teketele, Oumar Ballo and Dan Maskell.
The Friars will travel to Loyola on October 21st to play the Dons.
