ARCHBISHOP CURLEY BASEBALL
2011-12 Season Summary
The Varsity baseball team entered the 2012 season with high hopes, a strong senior-led team, and a new and enthusiastic coaching staff. After 35 games of solid play, a 23-11 record, a 10-6 MIAA regular season conference record, the Friars were a #4 seed entering the playoffs.
The 2012 season will certainly be remembered as a year of exciting games, come from behind wins, and several huge performances by an outstanding group of young men. All season, Coach Norris and his staff have relied on consistent starting pitching, clutch relief performances, timely hitting, and a never quit attitude. As a result, the Friars have propelled themselves to playoff wins over St. Paul's, Gilman and Calvert Hall. Their impressive playoff run in the always strong MIAA A Conference concluded with a trip to Ripken Stadium and a loss to Calvert Hall in the Championship Game.
The 2012 Friars were led by an outstanding senior class which included 2nd baseman Nick Schafer, shortstop Rick Warble, catcher Andrew Shinnick, 3rd baseman Toby Harrod, and pitchers Zac Salkowski and Zach Merkley.
The Curley baseball coaching staff would like to thank the school administration, Friar AC@ Club, and all of the parents for their support this year.
