The Movie Club will meet today after school in room 304.

Yesterday on Curley's hallowed JV baseball practice field, the Faculty and Staff soundly defeated members of the National Honor Society 12-6.  The NHS jumped out to a 3-1 lead early, but their hubris got the better of them after the faculty rebounded with a 6-run bottom of the 3rd inning.  Once ahead, the faculty refused to let up and continued to batter NHS pitching and defense.  The siege was highlighted by Mr. Polsinelli's INSIDE THE INFIELD HOMERUN.  Members of the faculty, as predicted, put on a defensive clinic in the infield and outfield.  Mr. Williams and Mr. Ogle shut down the middle of the field, turning double plays at will, while the outfield, patrolled by several faculty members rarely let a ball go uncaught.  The NHS valiantly rallied in the top of the 7th, but once again the experience won out.  After driving in the 6th run, Senior Matt Avara foolishly led off second base while calculating the likelihood of a comeback and fell victim to the dreaded hidden ball trick and the game was over.  With the win, starting pitcher Mr. Hoffman notched his 1,000th win and the faculty moved to 3-0 against the student body this academic year.

Bump, set, spike! There will be open gym volleyball today and Thursday for faculty and students after school.

Curley Sports

There will be a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, after dismissal in room 110 for all who wish to run Cross Country in the fall.

Monday, May 20th - DAY SIX

Let us stand for prayer.
On Sunday we celebrated the feast of Pentecost.  It is the commemoration of the gift of the Holy Spirit being given to the world in a dramatic way through the Apostles.  This gift enabled them to speak the “Good News” to people they did not know, in languages that were foreign to the Apostles to inspire those people to believe in the one true sacrifice that Christ made to set us free from sin and death.

Let us pray.
God of wind and fire and Spirit, we come to you today, grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit.  The gift of your Spirit enables us to do many things through the power of your grace. May we always strive to be people of the truth so that Your truth and goodness may shine through us; and that all may come to know You by how we live; One Body in Christ as inspired by the Spirit.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Please pray for the following benefactors: Ms. Brenda Wade, Mr. Mark C. Wagner, Mrs. Jean M. Wain, Mr. David Walatka, Mr. Lenny Waldhauser III, Mr. Christopher M. Waldt, and Mr. Gerard Waldt.

Wednesday, May 1st - DAY FIVE

Let us stand for prayer.
In response to “May Day” celebrations sponsored by Communists, which were opposed to religion and individual labor, Pope Pius XII instituted the feast of St. Joseph the Worker in 1955 as a reminder that from the beginning Jesus was a carpenter, trained by St. Joseph. Humanity is like God not only in thinking and loving, but also in creating. All are called to bear fruit with our hands and mind, ultimately for the building up of the Body of Christ.

Let us pray.
Blessed St. Joseph, patron of all working people, obtain for us the grace to labor in a spirit of penance. Help us to be conscientious in our work so that we may give as full a measure as we have received. May we labor in a spirit of thankfulness and joy, ever mindful of all the gifts we have received from God that enable us to perform these tasks. Permit us to work in peace, patience, and moderation, keeping in mind the account we must one day give of time lost and talents unused. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Please remember our benefactors: The Friars of St. Francis of Assisi Friary, Mrs. Theresa St. Laurent, Mr. Thomas W. Stachowski Jr., Fr. David Stachurski OFM Conv., Ms. Holly Stagmer, Rev. Andrew J. Stahmer and Mr. Joseph Stallings.

Wednesday, March 20th - DAY ONE

Let us stand for prayer.
This morning we have the opportunity to pray the Stations of the Cross together. From the beginning, followers of Jesus told the story of his passion, death and resurrection. When pilgrims came to see Jerusalem, they were anxious to see the sites where Jesus was. Eventually, following in the footsteps of the Lord, along the way of the cross, became a part of the pilgrimage visit. When it became difficult for people to travel to the Holy Land, the Franciscans brought the Holy Land to the people so that people could grow in their love and devotion to Jesus who suffered and died for them.

Let us pray,
God of power and mercy, in love you sent your Son
that we might be cleansed of sin and live with you forever.
Bless us as we gather this morning to reflect on his suffering and death
that we may learn from his example the way we should go.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Please remember our benefactors: Mr. Mark A. Piasecki, Mr. Robert Picarello, Ms. Janet Piccinini, Mr. Martin J. Piepoli III, Mr. Phil Piercy, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Pierro and Mr. & Mrs. Gary Pietrogiacomo.
