Department Objectives

The Guidance Department at Archbishop Curley High School is a resource for all members of the Curley Family. Services provided to current students are grounded in a holistic model with a focus on the development of the entire person.  Specifically, we provide services concentrating on four areas of adolescent development:

Academic
Post-Secondary Planning
Personal
Social

Academically, we advise students on their academic progress and related issues such as time management and study skills. Also, we provide one-on-one advising for every student during Course Registration in order to ensure each student is enrolled in appropriate and challenging courses.

For post-graduation planning, we offer information and services specifically designed for each year of high school. These services include a personalized PSAT score analysis, general information regarding the SAT, and one-on-one meetings regarding the college search process. Furthermore, each year our department hosts 30 college information sessions where students are given the opportunity to learn about schools from an admission officer representing each school.

The Guidance Department gives each student the opportunity to utilize software which provides personalized feedback on potential educational and career related topics.

The Guidance Department also hosts a series of informational sessions that take place before Parents' Guild Teacher Conferences.

Finally, our department addresses the personal and social development of our young men.  These services include individual and group counseling sessions on common issues related to the development of adolescent males.
