MISSION 4 SERVICE
PROJECT GRADING CRITERIA
"Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words." (St. Francis of Assisi)
All S-Forms and V-Forms will be collected and processed by FYM director. All projects should in some way attempt to explore the meaning of our theme for the year “One Body in Christ.”
Semester I projects (Grades 9-11) are due on Wednesday, December 1, 2011.
Semester II projects (Grades 9-11)are due on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
Senior Portfolios are due Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 8 AM.
The Semester I Mission4 project counts for 20% of students’ 2nd quarter religion grade.
The Semester II project counts as 20% of students’ 4th quarter grade.
Senior Projects count as 20% of the 4th quarter grade.
Lateness policy:
GRADE 9 SEMESTER I: Poster
FORMAT 20%
- Project on poster board (18” x 24” or larger ) 5%
- Includes: name, name of service site, 1 paragraph typed description of service 5%
- Includes: pictures or drawings of what was done, cut-out images from magazines or newspapers which help to explain service 10%
CONTENT 50%
- Reflects impact on self or those served 25%
- Reflects how experience connects student with the notion of A Year of Jubilee 25%
QUALITY 30%
- Neatness: No bent edges or sloppy work 10%
- Readability: Project communicates ideas well 10%
- Creativity 10%
GRADE 9 SEMESTER II: 1.5 page typed paper
FORMAT 30%
- No title page; only a header on the page you hand in which includes: name, date, location of your service 5%
- 1” margins, 12pt. Times New Roman font, 2x spaced 5%
- Full 1.5 pages 5%
- Spelling and grammar 15%
CONTENT 70%
- Paragraph 1: describe what you did for your service 20%
- Paragraph 2: describe the impact this service has had on your faith as it relates to A Year of Jubilee 50%
GRADE 10 SEMESTER I: 2 page typed paper
FORMAT 30%
- No title page; only a header on the page you hand in which includes: name, date, location of your service and Book, Chapter and Verse of Bible Passage 5%
- 1” margins, 12pt. Times New Roman font, 2x spaced 5%
- Full 2 pages 5%
- Spelling and grammar 15%
CONTENT 70%
- Paragraph 1: explain what you did for your service 10%
- Paragraph 2: explain which Bible passage you chose which demonstrates Jesus Christ as servant. 10%
- Paragraph 3: relate your service to the example set by Jesus Christ in the passage you chose (i.e. my service is similar to that of Jesus because…) 50%
GRADE 10 SEMESTER II: Artistic expression
FORMAT 20%
- Medium used (website, powerpoint, poster, sculpture, painting) was appropriate for communicating ideas 10%
- Structured/crafted in a way that is clear and understandable 10%

- Communicates how service relates to faith and relationship with God
- Communicates the joy and forgiveness of A Year of Jubilee.
- Is able to explain how piece of art communicates content and demonstrates that intentionally in the work

GRADE 11 SEMESTER I: Class presentation

CONTENT 50% - Relation of service to Franciscan values
- The Franciscan Value, Concern for the Poor, must be included by all students 20%
- Two other Franciscan Values (Strong Community Relationship, Dedication to Christ in the Church, Peaceful Resolution of Conflict, Care for the Environment) must be included: 30%
GRADE 11 SEMESTER II: 3-4 Page Research Paper
FORMAT 30%
- Title page which includes: title for paper, name, due date, location of your service, class section number 5%
- 1” margins, 12pt. Times New Roman font, 2x spaced 5%
- 3 pages minimum 5%
- Spelling and grammar 15%
CONTENT 70%
- A description of your service 5%
- Paper provides the title, author and year of publication of the Catholic Social Teaching document 5%
- A summary of at least 5 key points from CST document 10%
- An explanation of how your service relates to the central themes from the Catholic Social Teaching document that you have chosen 50%
GRADE 12 - SENIOR PORTFOLIO
