New Football Coach

Archbishop Curley High School is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Stichel Jr. as its new Head Football Coach. A veteran educator and coach with more than 20 years of experience, Coach Stichel brings a legacy of building competitive, high-character football programs throughout the region.

A graduate of McDaniel College, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Coach Stichel was a standout member of the Green Terror football team, contributing to three consecutive Centennial Conference Championships from 1997 to 1999. His coaching career includes impactful tenures at New Town, John Carroll, Loyola Blakefield, and Calvert Hall. At The John Carroll School, he led the Patriots to the 2012 MIAA B Conference Championship and was twice honored as Baltimore Ravens Coach of the Week in 2004 and 2006.

Since joining Archbishop Curley, Coach Stichel has played a vital role in the football program, serving in both assistant and head coaching capacities. He has led strength and conditioning efforts, implemented offensive and defensive strategies, and helped spearhead player recruitment and development. His leadership, attention to detail, and passion for the game have already left a strong mark on the Friars’ football culture.

Coach Stichel is deeply committed to shaping student-athletes both on and off the field. His enthusiasm for football, combined with his focus on mentorship and academic growth, aligns perfectly with Curley’s mission. The school is thrilled to have him at the helm as the Friars move forward into an exciting new era of excellence and competition.
